Humor Monastery-2

Unfortunately many of the frescoes on the front and the far side have faded away or were de-faced purposely. A masterpiece of Byzantine art, this monastery is one of several in northeastern Romania near Suceava. Built in 1530 it is one of the smaller painted monasteries but has lovely frescoes of the Return of the Prodigal Son and one of the devil shown as a woman. It is reddish in colour with rich blues and greens.
