Typical 80s video, esp. early on (for rock & pop music):

These are Very basic examples. In a nutshell, they started off as “Hey, Here’s The Band In a Room”, & often done of actual video tape. Then Thriller raised the bar to make them mini movies. (to this day)
Then by the 90s, everyone was doing them on film (no more video tape) & the effects & visuals got much slicker. The monotones, shaky cam’ etc.
Today we’re seeing a continuation of the 90s style, but I notice MUCH more humor in today’s videos. (eg: OK-GO, Katy Perry, etc)
