In American Literature, we are talking about old southwest humor. Does anyone know what that is?

Sure. Localized humor, or humor that is identified to or from a particulalr geographic area, is humor that people living in those areas can relate to, or understand better.

For example, a joke about adobe roofs wouldn’t go over in New York City! But a joke about speeding taxis wouldn’t be recognized in New Mexico.
